Newport is set to come alive with music as the Newport Music Trail takes over the city on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 March 2025. This exciting free festival-style event celebrates the rich musical landscape of Newport, offering a unique opportunity to explore gigs across multiple venues.
As one of the key venues, The Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre will be hosting an incredible lineup of live music performances and interactive workshops on Saturday 29 March. From talented local musicians to hands-on creative sessions, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Live Music in the Foyer - Experience an afternoon of fantastic live performances:

Workshops and Interactive Sessions - Get involved with these engaging workshops throughout the day:
- 11am - 4pm: Free Junk Instrument Craft Making (Foyer) – Create your own instrument using recycled materials!
- 11am – 12pm: ‘Working Class Heroes’ – Newport’s Music History Tour (Conference Room) – A deep dive into Newport’s legendary music scene.
- 11am – 1pm: Operasonic’s Music Morning (Studio Theatre) – A relaxed, fun introduction to live music for ages 6-12 (instruments provided!).
- 2pm – 4pm: Operasonic’s Music Afternoon (Studio Theatre) – A hands-on music session for ages 12+ (instruments provided!).
- 3pm – 5pm: Sound and Sensory Fun with Operasonic (Dance Studio) – Led by deaf artists and musicians, including drumming, violin, and sensory art.
- 3pm – 4pm: Hip Hop Culture Workshop (Ages 6-10) – Dive into the world of hip hop with two of Wales’s top hip-hop artists. (Basement)
- 4pm – 5pm: Hip Hop Culture Workshop (Ages 9-16) – Dive into the world of hip hop with two of Wales’s top hip-hop artists. (Basement)
