As the holidays come to an and we recover from an action-packed summer of fun, our attention is drawn to the next big event in our calendar, pantomime. The Riverfront Theatre is delighted to welcome Robin Hood to the stage in November 2022.  It’s been a long wait but now that’s ‘behind us’, they’re back with a bang, and can’t wait to welcome you!

With a mix of new and familiar faces, The Riverfront are delighted to announce the incredible cast of our much-anticipated production.

Guess who’s back… Yes, you guessed it! Richard Elis is returning to The Riverfront starring as Much the Millars Son. From performing all over the world in both Welsh and English language to appearing in the well-known soaps, Eastenders and Coronation Street, Richard Elis is a Newport pantomime favourite. The Riverfront can’t wait to have him back causing comical chaos!

Playing the beautiful heroine and love interest of Robin Hood, Maid Marian, we have Rhiannon Porter. Best known for her position as a finalist representing the UK in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, Rhiannon has a wealth of performance experience.

Aled Pugh will be joining the cast on The Riverfront stage as the ruthless Sheriff of Nottingham.  Best known for his hilariously Welsh character in the TV production, Stella (Tidy Productions for Sky), Aled also won a BAFTA Cymru for Best Actor in 2010 for his portrayal of Ryan in the film adaptation of Ryan & Ronnie (Boomerang).

Playing the role of Mandragoria, Rhiannon Howys is thrilled to be making her first stage appearance in Wales, the land of her parents. Rhiannon trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and has an endless list of theatre credits including Punk Fairy in Jack and the Beanstalk (Belgrade, Coventry), Booth Singer in Cats (UK tour) and Jan in Grease (Dominion and Cambridge).

Steven Elliot has worked with many high-calibre theatre companies throughout the UK and has starred in a variety of well-known TV and film productions including The Crown, Da Vinci’s Demons, Holby City, The Watcher in the Woods, Les Misérables and many more! The Riverfront look forward to welcoming Steven to the stage as the kind-hearted, much loved Friar Tuck.

With a passion for singing and storytelling through song, Phoebe Holmes will be playing the part of Little Joan, Robin Hood’s loyal sidekick. Pheobe is originally from Wrexham but is now based in London where she is a member of London’s only female Choir.

Robin Hood - Geraint Rhys

Before we go, we mustn’t forget the main man himself, Robin Hood. The heroic outlaw is being played by Geraint Rhys Edwards. Geraint is originally from Cardiff and is a native Welsh speaker. He’s worked across theatre and television over the years since graduating from Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance with a BA (Hons) in Acting in 2011. This will be Geraint’s second time working with The Riverfront Theatre and his first-time playing Robin Hood and frankly- he couldn’t be more excited. Bring on the Tights!

This fabulous cast will be joined on stage with our wonderfully talented ensemble: Koda Holland-Smith, Alicia Witt, Remi Ferdinand, Elliott Parry, Jordan Bowers & Chloe Bramall.
