The Team GB Track Cycling Team returns to The Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales in Newport from 25 to 30 July for their final training preparations before they head off for victory in the Paris 2024 Olympics. The Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales has become part of Team GB’s proven training strategy which propelled them in the Olympic Games at Athens, Beijing, London, Rio and Tokyo.

Here’s what Paul Mullan Head of Performance Support, Great British Cycling Team had to say about training in Newport. “We always talk about the magic of Newport. It’s the place where we get focused on winning. It’s our second home. In normal times we’re apart from each other, so it’s the place we come together, to connect, to focus. The Newport magic has helped us win for years”

On Friday 26 July and Monday 29 July we're inviting members of the public to come and witness Team GB’s elite cyclists in action. Cyclists will fine-tune their skills and strategies as they make their final preparations for Olympic glory. Tickets are free and everyone is welcome.

Women’s Track Endurance

Elinor Barker: An experienced Olympian, Elinor brings a wealth of experience and talent to the women’s track endurance team. She has previously won gold in the team pursuit at the Rio 2016 Olympics and has significant World Championship titles and medals to her name. Elinor’s experience, tactical and physical engine are crucial assets for Team GB in Paris.

Jess Roberts: Another strong contender in the women’s track endurance event, has shown impressive performances in national and international competitions. After some years plagued with injuries, she: has shown a lot of grit to show her true potential for her first Olympics. As a young rider Jess trained and competed here at The Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales.

Meg Barker: (Travelling reserve): A massive part of the Team Pursuit preparation over the last couple of years, aiming for Paris, winning World and European medals along the way demonstrating she is a key asset in the lead into 2024 Olympics. Meg also competed on our track as a young rider.

Anna Morris: After becoming a Doctor and enduring the pandemic working in hospitals, Anna decided to focus on her ambition of becoming an Olympian and demonstrated that she has become one of the best riders in the world at getting the team off the line in Team Pursuit. Her power and speed are critical in getting the team up to speed in a very measured type of effort.

Women’s Track Sprinters

Emma Finucane & Lowri Thomas: (Travelling reserve) Both are no strangers at The Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales as they both trained and competed here as young riders
