CULTIVATE is The Riverfront's scratch performance event that allows Audiences to meet Artists as they share short work in progress performances of brand new work.
We are looking to connect with a broad range of Artist/Collectives/Groups whose primary focus is on Live Performance for stage.
We understand the term "Live Performance" is incredibly open and that's what's really exciting, as CULTIVATE offers an open platform for radical, atypical and progressive new ideas. We want to welcome Artists with a unique vision and approach so that we can work together to cultivate new ways to share ideas with our audiences and communities.
WHAT WE'RE OFFERING
We're offering Artists/Groups the opportunity to apply for a short residency at The Riverfront theatre that will culminate in a short performance-sharing of new work as part of the CULTIVATE Scratch Night on Thursday 12th May 2022.
Artist/Groups will receive:
- 3x days of rehearsal space at The Riverfront.
- Support from a freelance Creative Producer.
- Technical support for performance as part of the Cultivate Scratch
- £150 (per Artist/Group) for expenses.
- A filmed version of the work for future development.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Expressions of interest from Artists and Groups (collectives, companies, pairs etc) who have an idea they think would benefit from further development as part of CULTIVATE.
We're interested in work of any form and genre, as long as it is clear that it will benefit from being shared in front of a live audience.
We want to support people to explore specific ideas and narratives informed by their experiences and profile Artists/Groups whose work can influence a wider conversation with audiences and communities. Because of this we're particularly interested in work that addresses urgent themes and/or is lead by Artists from typically marginalised groups.
Working in the building for three days with the support of a Freelance Producer and the team at The Riverfront, we want to ensure that everyone feels happy, safe and able to explore their work to the fullest potential.
Within the linked form there is a section that asks you to specify any needs you might have.
In the case of Disability lead work we are keen to co-develop an access rider tailored to your specific needs, upon successful application.
Overall we're looking for a total of x4 Artist/Groups who will form an exciting showcase of work in progress performances as part of the CULTIVATE Scratch Night.
Each sharing should last between 5min - 25mins.
All work should be suitable for audiences 14+
All Artist/Groups will work with a Creative Producer to tailor audience feedback models, as part of the event.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: Wednesday 31st August 2022
