The Newport Live Training Academy is the overarching program for Newport Live for any individual who wants to develop themselves personally and professionally through volunteering and training opportunities. The programme is accessible to everyone whether that’s a young person, someone in the community or a retiree, the training academy takes a person-centred approach to the best pathway for their development.

There are leadership academics in secondary schools across Newport, giving young people the chance to become part of the Young Ambassador programme in partnership with the Youth Sports Trust.  The YA programme supports developing the next generation of confident and competent leaders. This unique opportunity allows training opportunities for the YAs as well as support with self-confidence, self-esteem, practical coaching skills and employability skills. The YAs will receive mentoring support throughout every step of their journey. We link with external agencies as well as Newport Live departments to look for employment opportunities.

The Training Academy also opens its doors and opportunities to volunteers within local sports clubs, members of the communities and anyone who shows passion and dedication to want to inspire people to be happier and healthier.

We collaborate with several partners such as Newport Youth Academy, Portal Training, Sports Leaders, Youth Sports Trust, Careers Wales and many more to ensure any individual part of the Training Academy has access to a variety of suitable training and work experience.
