Newport Live is an inclusive organisation, and we provide a number of programmes and initiatives to help tackle inequality.

Disability Sport

The Disability Sport Wales National Community Development Programme is a national scheme that aims to develop and sustain, quality community-based sporting and recreational opportunities for disabled people.

In Newport this is a joint initiative between Sport Wales, Disability Sport Wales, Newport City Council and Newport Live. In partnership with Newport City Council, Newport Live were officially presented with the insport Gold Standard by Disability Sport Wales on 13 May 2024, the first local authority area in Wales, recognising our ongoing disability and inclusion commitment. Newport Live's Community Sport and Wellbeing team work to develop sporting and recreational opportunities for disabled people in Newport. Within the city of Newport, there are plenty of ways for people with a disability to get involved in sport and physical activity through volunteering, coaching and participating. The Community Sport and Wellbeing Team are always striving to expand the opportunities available to disabled people and make sport and physical activity in Newport more inclusive.

Disability Sports Timetable

Dragons Autism / Visually Impaired

Visually impaired rugby sessions for ages 8-18 years.

Inclusive Rugby Community Club

The ICC provision aims to engage children and young adults with disabilities in the local community through non-contact tag-based rugby sessions. All sessions are tailored specifically to the participant's needs.

All levels of ability are welcome between the age range of 6 to 16 years.

Wheels for All

Adapted and 2-wheeled bikes are available. Bike hire is for 1-hour slots and is free to Newport residents. For more information, please visit our website.
