The Disability Sport Wales National Community Development Programme is a national scheme that aims to develop and sustain, quality community based sporting and recreational opportunities for disabled people.

In Newport there is a joint initiative between Sport Wales, Disability Sport Wales and Newport Live.

A Disability Sport Wales development officer is based within the Sports Development team at Newport Live with the role of developing sporting and recreational opportunities for disabled people in Newport.

New Active Play Session...

Following on from the popularity of the Active Play zone at our recent insport series event, Newport Live are pleased to launch a weekly Active Play session specifically for Disabled Children age 5 – 14 years. The soft play based sessions will be Interactive and children can take part in as many or as few activities as they want.  The aim of the session is to have fun to develop key skills, and confidence.

The session will take place every Monday from 4.30pm – 5.30pm in the ancillary hall at the Tennis Centre, Newport International Sports Village starting on Monday 19 June and costs £2.90.
