A lively theatre and arts centre based in the centre of Newport City centre that brings as many people as possible into contact with the arts and creativity, with professional performances, film screenings and workshops.

The Riverfront is Newport's only professional presenting theatre and arts centre and has two theatre spaces, a visual art gallery space, dance studio, recording studio, workshop rooms, conference room and licensed cafe.

The Riverfront hosts a number of festivals and events both in the building and across the city of Newport throughout the year. Key annual events that can’t be missed include International Women’s Day celebrations in March, Big Splash in July, and Art on the Hill in November.

Films worth talking about at The Riverfront! Throughout the season the cinema programme will bring Newport the best in family films, drama, comedy, art house and documentaries from as little as £3.50.

The Riverfront Pantomime 2024/2025

Join our hero Dick Whittington and his trusty cat, Tommy as they set out on an epic journey from Newport in search of fame, fortune, friendship and adventure!

On stage from 27th November until 4th January this timeless family pantomime will transport you to a land where love conquers all.

With two theatres, an art gallery, dance studio, conference room, three workshop/function rooms, bar, café and foyer areas, The Riverfront can provide a dramatic and memorable venue for conferences, events, meetings, corporate entertaining and more.

Recording Studio

C.O.B.R.A. Music Studios is based at the Riverfront Theatre. C.O.B.R.A. Music Studios formed in 2017 as a purely On-Location Recording Company, specialising in Large Ensemble Recording. In 2019, the demand grew for Smaller Ensemble and Solo Recording - which saw C.O.B.R.A. Music Studios open its first Studio Premises.

Café

The newly refurbished Riverfront Café is the perfect spot for a catch up with friends or a casual business meeting. Enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee and piece of cake or even a glass of something stronger with views across the River Usk.

The Riverfront Gallery plays host to a mix of exhibitions from photography to film, textile to graphics, fine art to performance art. This autumn the Riverfront Gallery is moving to the upstairs balcony area where a varied range of artwork will be displayed.

Community Arts Development

The Community Arts Development team aims to provide creative opportunities for people of all ages within the many communities of Newport. They co-ordinate different arts projects, events, activities and workshops throughout Newport including drama, dance, arts and crafts, music and more.

The scheme encourages organisations with premises open to the public in Newport to support breastfeeding by being welcoming, friendly and supportive. We have attended a breastfeeding awareness session and are committed to being a Breastfeeding Welcome premise.

 

TYA CYMRU MEMBER logog            The Riverfront are proud members of TYA Cymru.

TYA Cymru (Theatre for Young Audiences Cymru) is one of the regional centres of ASSITEJ UK and is currently being run by Theatr Iolo.

ASSITEJ UK is a member of the global network that is ASSITEJ International. ASSITEJ International unites theatres, organisations and individuals throughout the world who make theatre for children and young people.
