Newport LIVE is looking to recruit full-time and part-time, highly-motivated Sports Coordinators to support the work of Newport LIVE’s award-winning Sport & Physical Activity Development Team. Successful applicants will be part of the development of local, regional, and national initiatives designed to encourage and engage children, young people, families, and communities in regular sport and physical activity participation.

The team is held in high regard locally, regionally, and nationally and with several sector leading UK organisations, charities, and commercial partners; due to innovative approaches, forward thinking, creativity, and inclusive ways of inspiring people to be happier and healthier. Successful candidates will be part of a high performing team based at the Newport International Sports Village, working across the City of Newport. We are looking for candidates who are able to engage people of all ages, have the ability to learn and develop, and who are self-starters with a ‘can do’ attitude.

As a result, we are looking to recruit individuals for varying initiatives focused within the following key department themes: 

School & Community Sport – The aim is to inspire people to lead active lifestyles, whereby providing regular opportunities to access sport and physical activity. The programme aims to build pathways to participation, engagement and personal development.      

  • 1 x full time position fixed term initially until 31st March 2018
  • 1 x part time position fixed term initially until 31st March 2018
  • 1 x part time position fixed term initially until 30th September 2017

Alternative Education – Operational delivery of the Positive Futures alternative education programme. The programme aims to use sport as a tool to engage young people at risk of exclusion and support address some of the social and emotional barriers that young people may be facing.

  • 1 x full time position fixed term until 31st March 2018

Family Health and Wellbeing – Operational support and delivery of a variety of family and young person focused health education and intervention programmes within the Families First funded Health & Wellbeing Team.  

  • 1 x part time position fixed term initially until 30th September 2017

Newport LIVE is looking to recruit an experienced, knowledgeable and enthusiastic Sports Development professional to join and work as part of Newport LIVE’s award winning Sport and Physical Activity Development Team. The successful applicant will be part of the development and management of local, regional and national initiatives designed to encourage and engage children, young people, and families in regular Sport and Physical Activity.

The team is held in high regard locally in Wales and with several sector leading UK organisations, charities, and commercial partners; due to innovative approaches, forward thinking, creativity, and inclusive ways of inspiring people to be happier and healthier. The successful candidate will be part of a high performing team based at the Newport International Sports Village, working across the City of Newport. We are looking for an exceptional candidate with a ‘can do’ attitude, able to learn, develop, and gain valuable experience whilst adding to the team and organisation.

The post includes day time and some evening / weekend delivery were appropriate and is fixed term until 31 March 2018.

Newport LIVE is looking to recruit enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and responsible Casual Learning Mentors to work as part of Newport LIVE’s award winning Sport and Physical Activity Development Team, working within the inspirational Alternative Education (Positive Futures) programme.

The Sport and Physical Activity Development Team provides sport and physical activity opportunities across the City of Newport in schools, communities, alternative education programmes and a variety of other environments. The team is held in high regard locally, regionally, and nationally due to their forward thinking, creativity, inclusive ways of delivering, and overall professionalism. In turn we would expect the same from candidates applying for this post.

The successful candidates would be required to work during day time but may also include working some evenings / weekend delivery when necessary.

Newport LIVE is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to the post of part time Senior Recreation Assistant at The Newport International Sports Village, Regional Pool & Tennis Centre 18.5 hrs on a Job share basis.

Working as an integral part of the Facilities Operations Team, this role will lead and supervise a team of Recreation Assistants, ensuring that all required duties per operational shift are allocated fairly and that all work is performed and presented to a high standard.

As a minimum requirement applicants will need to possess an STA NARS or RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Certificate, possess the Pool Plant Operators Certificate, demonstrate experience of planning daily work routines and be able to demonstrate 2 years operational experience with at least 1 year at supervisory level within a leisure environment.

The post will require the post holder to work early mornings, evenings and weekends on a rota basis and the post holder will be required to attend mandatory staff training sessions.

Newport LIVE are looking for suitable volunteers to join our dynamic team to help deliver our Integrated Swim Programme. The successful volunteer will be responsible for assisting in the sessions in a wide range of our programmes and events throughout the city.

The Integrated Swim Programme delivers a comprehensive aquatic programme including learn to swim, school swim programme, competitive swimming & water polo, lessons for children with specific needs, holiday activities, community clubs and other aquatic sports.

You will have the opportunity to attend the swim development coach education programme including stroke specific workshops, safeguarding and disability awareness. The aim of which is to develop teaching and engagement skills and ultimately improved sessions for our participants.

You will assist the Tennis Development Officer and Tennis Coaches with the delivery, implementation and sales process for the Newport LIVE Tennis Programme.

You will be part of an established and motivated team of individuals to help, assist and deliver tennis lessons following the LTA teaching progressions and guidelines.

 Newport LIVE is looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated individuals to the post of Casual Receptionist.

The successful applicant will work at Newport LIVE venues. They will assist in ensuring all customers of facilities experience a welcoming and safe environment that is fit for purpose, resulting in maximum enjoyment and repeat usage of facilities. Previous experience of working as a Receptionist or in a similar busy customer facing role is highly desirable.

The position will require the post holder to work on as a casual and will involve working early mornings, evenings and weekends on a rota basis.

Newport LIVE is looking to recruit professional and enthusiastic Casual Active Playworkers to become part of the newly established Newport LIVE Team.

The individual must be passionate about working with children and their families. The post is responsible for delivering a programme of play and sport for families with children from birth to the age of 12. Children will have the opportunity to explore, imitate and enjoy experimenting with a whole range of equipment and resources encouraging them to be physically active.

Within this role you will be expected to work at various Newport LIVE venues to deliver the programme across the city.

Newport LIVE is looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated individuals as Casual Party Hosts.

The successful applicants must be able to work at all Newport LIVE venues. They will assist in ensuring all customers experience a welcoming and safe environment that is fit for purpose, resulting in maximum enjoyment and repeat usage of facilities.

Duties will include amongst others, setting up of party equipment and checking that it is safe for use, meeting and greeting customers, supervision of children and food areas during the party, reporting of any defects, and to assist management in providing high standards of presentation by cleaning the party areas.
